Theme combo Odd Meters 2
As every year, Leuven Jazz presents a series of theme combos by the jazz department of the LUCA School of Arts. Together with their teachers, the students develop a repertoire based on a specific theme or notable figure from the history of jazz.
What happens when jazz breaks free from its familiar rhythms? Odd metres, or irregular time signatures such as 5/4 or 7/8, create an exciting and unexpected groove that keeps you on the edge of your seat.
Led by piano teacher Alex Koo, who is playing the bass here, this combo explores the world of shifting beats and rhythmic surprises: from Brubeck's iconic experiments to contemporary adventurers.
