As every year, Leuven Jazz presents a series of theme combos by the jazz department of the LUCA School of Arts. Together with their teachers, the students develop a repertoire based on a specific theme or notable figure from the history of jazz.

What happens when jazz breaks free from its familiar rhythms? Odd metres, or irregular time signatures such as 5/4 or 7/8, create an exciting and unexpected groove that keeps you on the edge of your seat. 

Led by a LUCA teacher this combo explores the world of shifting beats and rhythmic surprises: from Brubeck's iconic experiments to contemporary adventurers.
