As every year, Leuven Jazz presents a series of theme combos by the jazz department of the LUCA School of Arts. Together with their teacher, the students work out a repertoire around a certain theme or a well-known figure from the history of jazz.

Drum teacher Dré Pallemaerts takes on the rich oeuvre of multi-instrumentalist Yusef Lateef. Lateef’s music is perhaps most characterised by the influences of Eastern music and the use of instruments not usually associated with jazz such as oboe, bassoon and all kinds of Eastern wind instruments.
