TOOTS 100
In celebration of 100 years of Toots Thielemans, the LUCA Bigband is honoured to invite the Dutch soloist Hermine Deurloo. Together, they’ll perform Toots’ most iconic songs, in arrangements by Maria Schneider that she wrote especially for him in 2001.
IT MIGHT AS WELL BE SWING
The swing era in jazz brought us legendary artists such as Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole, Ella Fitzgerald, Louis Armstrong and Sarah Vaughan. With their voice as an instrument, they entered in full-fledged dialogue with the band and gave the Great American Songbook its rightful place in history.
For this repertoire, South-African singer Tutu Puoane joins forces with the 8-piece Rebirth:: Collective, led by trombonist Dree Peremans. This orchestra combines the sound of a full big band with the agility of a smaller ensemble. Its musicians earn(ed) their spurs with the Brussels Jazz Orchestra, Flat Earth Society, Daan, Jef Neve and others.
Their arrangements of famous crooner hits, combined with Tutu’s incredible voice, will bring musical fireworks on stage. Staying put might be a challenge …
