Loverman is the solo project of James De Graef, former keyboardist and bassist with Shht and half of the electro duo Partners. He was already allowed to open at Gent Jazz. His debut single Into the Night was a hit. With his deep voice and poetic lyrics, James goes after greats like Nick Cave and Leonard Cohen. A unique artist to keep an eye on.
For this occasion, he is assisted by two talented jazz musicians.
Louis is the son of Dré Pallemaerts, studies jazz drums with Joost Patocka at Codarts Rotterdam and is inspired by Brian Blade and Elvin Jones.
Simon Beeckaert studied double bass at the Antwerp Conservatory and is currently active as a musician and composer, including with the jazz quartet The Groovecats Deluxe. He previously played with Tamino, Echo Beatty and Franky fame, among others. Beeckaert also composed music for De Zonnekoning, the dance solo by Samuel Baidoo, the dance performance Wijtwee, the documentary Logique Abdi (Bruno Rino Nesin) and the audio documentary De Kroonlaan. Since July 2022, Beeckaert can be seen in ONE SONG - Histoire(s) du Théâtre IV, a performance by Miet Warlop & NTGent that premiered at Festival d'Avignon.
