B-Jazz Rewind 1
Due to the Covid restrictions, the B-Jazz International Contest is cancelled also this year.
Instead, you can enjoy five exceptional online concerts that present the winners of the five most recent editions in combination with a young, promising Belgian jazz formation. Thus, we maintain the international aspect of B-Jazz and at the same time offer a stage to Belgian jazz talents. All sets were recorded live, but without an audience.
Martin Salemi Trio (BE)
Winners of the B-Jazz International Contest 2018.
From the jury report:
“What a good band! They sound beautiful. There’s an excellent interplay and they have good compositions. The pianist is a very good improviser in his style and the beautiful concept was very well executed. The jury enjoyed the concert very much.”
Support: YJC5 - Youth Jazz Collective Quintet (BE)
The Youth Jazz Collective is an initiative of the Brussels Jazz Orchestra, Vuurvogels and Muziekmozaïek Folk & Jazz.
This big band offers young musicians an opportunity to grow, play together and collaborate with renowned international conductors. They explore the tradition of swing and get acquainted with contemporary compositions during project weeks (twice a year), extra rehearsals and masterclasses.
November 2018, 16 young talents were selected to start in this exciting big band project. Due to safety precautions in these Covid times, the group was reduced to a quintet.
