ft KAU trio + Maxime Dereux + Marius Rabbe / Aftershow: DJ Fatoosan
Thu 16/03/2023 - 19:00
This event is free

In this unique creation, freestyle dance is linked to the freestyle jazz of the KAU trio, saxophonist Maxime Dereux and trombonist Marius Rabbe

The best freestyle dancers represent their style in a 1 vs 1 format. Each dancer is linked to a jazz instrument on which he/she will have to freestyle against the opponent. The further the dancer gets, the more instruments he/she will get to dance on.

KAU trio + Maxime Dereux + Marius Rabbe

KAU trio is the instrumental project of André Breidlid (drums), Matteo Genovese (bass) and Jan Janzen (keys). They came from different corners of Europe and met in Brussels. In their music, they reflect the spirit of the city. For the occasion, they have been joined by the French saxophonist Maxime Dereux and trombonist Marius Rabbe.

They mainly get inspiration from jazz and create an atmospheric vibe with the help of broken beats and catchy melodies. There is always room for improvisation as their music is original and fearless. Their influences range from jazz icons Miles Davis and John Coltrane to contemporary jazz heroes such as BADBADNOTGOOD and Christian Scott, as well as hip-hop artists such as Tupac, Biggy Smalls and Snoop Dogg.

After falling into the ears of tastemaker LeFtO, they were invited to Kiosk Radio and broadcast on WORLDWIDE FM. You can now certainly place KAU Trio between bands like STUFF and ECHT.
