Hou Vast

Three travellers are on their way between then and later. They are looking for something to hold on to: each other, the past and their dreams. While one acts as a compass to set their course, the other is put in impossible positions like a pocket knife. Then they pile up like a watchtower, to see together what is to come. Climbing, stumbling and struggling – they seem to keep each other in a fragile equilibrium ... or do they?

Hou Vast is an absurd, acrobatic performance featuring two acrobats and a musician, who use their bodies and (favourite) music to depict the balance between holding on and letting go.

Theatre collective DeRonde/Deroo comes from the same ‘universe’ as Het Houten Huis, but Nick and Tom have created a planet of their own. While Het Houten Huis works with physical play, live music and impressive transforming sets, Nick and Tom create a poignant world with their bodies.

Their images are surprising, funny and moving. Together with Houten Huis actor and multi-instrumentalist Martin Franke, they explore the possibility of physically challenging each other while simultaneously making live music with and on each other's bodies. They explore the use of homemade instruments, linking body and musical instrument. Together, music, images and physical play interpret the desires and fears of three characters in their search for ‘something to hold on to’.
