Hendrik Braeckman, Hans Van Oost en Marc Van den Hoof
Living room concert - programme partially in Dutch!
Two brilliant guitarists and a jazz connoisseur, an exceptional trio to please all jazz fans.
Hendrik Braeckman is a former student of Philip Catherine, Paolo Radoni, Peter Hertmans and Bert Joris. He was part of the Jan De Haas Quintet and led his own Hendrik Braeckman Group, recording the cd ‘ ‘til now’ (De Werf Records). Braeckman often plays with the Brussels Jazz Orchestra and collaborated with Orquesta Tanguedia, Kommil Foo, Joe Lovano, and Tutu Puoane. He also joins Frank Vaganée in Tripod and appears with Jeroen Van Herzeele. He teaches jazz guitar and harmony at the Antwerp Conservatory.
Hans Van Oost might very well be the most solicited guitarist in Belgian jazz. He has played in projects and bands such as the Brussels Jazz Orchestra, Bart Defoort Quartet, and with Rony Verbiest and Ben Sluijs. He only started playing the guitar at the age of 19 and studied with Paolo Radoni at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels and at the Jazz Studio in Antwerp. He took masterclasses with Pat Metheny and Serge Lazerevitch, among others. Since 2005, he also teaches at the Ghent Conservatory.
For many years Marc Van den Hoof was THE jazz man at radio Klara. His radio show gently took you into the night. During ‘Leuven Jazz’ he will also present some fine lectures on famous guitarists in the history of jazz. This time, he lets the guitar ‘speak’ and presents some fine ‘gems’ from the past. Lecture in Dutch only.
[tip:] Hans Van Oost will also play in the QU4RTET of Stefan Bracaval (at 16.00 h).
