Uncle Sax (documentaire ) + concert + party
This evening will bring back the legendary saxophonist Jack Sels (1922-1970). This Belgian musician rightfully re-entered the spotlights recently: Sdban Records published the double album 'Minor Works' with some rare and newly discovered compositions. Lander Lenaerts (aka DJ The JazzKid) directed the project and drew up the liner notes.
This evening starts with the short documentary 'Uncle Sax – The Life and Jazz of Jack Sels', followed by a live concert by the Casimir Liberski trio. The programme ends in a festive party, under the command of dj The JazzKid.
For 24 years, Existenz is a group of motivated students in architectural engineering at KU Leuven. Research, meaning, history and fresh ideas are the base for various projects all year round.
During their Existenz week they transform an abandoned, enchanting location in Leuven and fill it with a combination of activities and cosiness. The location of 2019 will be kept secret for a while, but it's definitely got a jazz feel to it.
