Dans Dans - support: Echoes of Zoo
Often cited as one of the most exciting Belgian projects, Dans Dans – the band by Bert Dockx (Flying Horseman), Frederic Jacques (bass with Mark Lanegan and front man of Lyenn) and Steven Cassiers (multi-instrumentalist at Dez Mona and DAAU) – has already built up an international live reputation.
In 2012 the trio’s titleless debut album became an instant cult classic. It contained personal versions of Nick Drake songs (the wonderful and stripped-down River Man) and compositions by Sonny Rollins, Sun Ra and Thelonious Monk. In its peculiar approach Dans Dans tore down the walls separating Belgian jazz, pop and rock scenes.
On Discogs some copies of the debut are worth € 100. At the request of their fans, the record will be re-issued on vinyl. This festive moment is celebrated in Leuven, where the band will play the complete debut album, as well as a selection of its enormous back catalogue.
Echoes of Zoo
Echoes of Zoo is the latest project of saxophonist Nathan Daems. This quartet is composed by musicians you might know from bands such as De Beren Gieren, Black Flower, Compro Oro and Sylvie Kreusch. Daems drew inspiration from the energy and message of Rage Against The Machine, one of the favourite bands of his childhood. Echoes of Zoo combines psychedelic jazz with a punk attitude and gives a voice to the unheard. Discover them live with material from their first EP ‘First Provocations’.
